2008 Bond Projects
Thanks to the community, the passage of the 2008 Bond will provide funds for building repairs and infrastructure upgrades.
History
Built in 1978 to accommodate the growing population on the east side of Longmont, Skyline has built traditions and a sense of community. Visitors marvel at the spectacular view from the school’s Commons area, and students can enrich their lives with the opportunities that abound in academics, athletics, and activities.
School Focus
Specific school goals are focused on increasing mean scores in math and reading to the proficient level by 2009.
To work towards achieving these goals, the staff uses many different approaches with their primary focus on the school’s Literacy Program that assists students in deepening their reading skills. With the help of a fulltime reading coordinator, teachers work in teams to manage the students’ individualized literacy plans.
Achieving Academic Success
Having high expectations for all students, mentoring programs, and peer tutoring are just some of the varied opportunities that are in place at Skyline providing the support for all students to be successful. Additional instructional strategies, tools, and programs include:
- A caring, supportive staff and administration committed to ensuring a quality education for all students.
- A variety of course offerings provide choices for students at all levels and abilities.
- An extensive literacy program, involving differentiated levels of instruction.
- Renaissance Program that rewards students for their academic performance. Students are presented with a card that gives them discounts throughout the Longmont business community.
