2008 Bond Projects
Thanks to the community, the passage of the 2008 Bond will provide funds for building repairs and infrastructure upgrades.
History
Located on the north end of the city of Longmont, Sanborn Elementary was the only school opened during the 1980’s in the St. Vrain Valley School District. Students and visitors enjoy a dramatic view of Longs Peak and Twin Sisters mountains. Sanborn is known for its pleasing and aesthetic appearance and also for its warm and friendly atmosphere.
School Focus
Centered around writing and computation, instruction is focused to develop and assure that students:
- Are proficient in reading, writing, speaking and listening
- Are fluent in the use of numbers and number relationships to solve problems
- Are knowledgeable and proficient in the use of technology
- Exhibit the skills and attitudes necessary for appropriate social interaction
Sanborn Elementary School is a Positive Behavior Support school. Emphasis is placed on supporting appropriate behavior through positive reinforcement and intervention. Parents and staff credit this program with the incredibly positive atmosphere at Sanborn.
Achieving Academic Success
A talented staff of dedicated individuals are committed to meeting the needs of a continuum of learners. To that end, achieving academic success for all students at Sanborn includes:
- Mastering Math Facts, an innovative math supplemental program.
- A literacy lab staffed by highly trained literacy specialists.
- A community school that provides before- and after- school care and unique programs for students outside the school day.
- An all-day kindergarten program designed to give parents an option with kindergarten programming.
- Monthly family nights, performing art opportunities, a run/walk club, a school choir, and a full complement of specials (art, music and physical education) for all students.
What Makes Sanborn Unique
Sanborn has a very “small school” atmosphere. With incredible parent involvement, caring staff, and a beautiful campus, Sanborn is the place “where everyone knows your name.” This personal attention has led to great success for our students.
Before/After School Activities
Sanborn offers a variety of after school activities for students such as the Jump Rope Club, Karate, Pottery Making, School Plays, 50 Mile Club, Volleyball, Arts and Crafts, school dances, family picnics, and an incredible talent show in the Spring. Check with the school for the most current offerings.
Feeder Pattern
Students leaving Sanborn Elementary School will attend Longs Peak Middle School and then move on to Longmont High School.
