2008 Bond Projects
Thanks to the community, the passage of the 2008 Bond will provide funds for building repairs and infrastructure upgrades.
History
Named for the picturesque Rocky Mountains and nestled on the east side of Longmont adjacent to Rothrock Dell Park, Rocky Mountain Elementary (RME) was recently reorganized as a K-5 (Bilingual) school. During the summer of 2005, the school underwent renovations that included a new media center, new and expanded classrooms, and updated operational equipment.
School Focus
The level of performance is no higher than the level of expectation. Committed to providing a learning environment where excellence is the norm and failure is not an option, RME has initiated steps to develop a Professional Learning Community where collaboration and purpose of a shared vision are expected. Specifically, the school goals are to raise CSAP assessment levels of proficient or advanced to 80% or higher in both reading and math.
To achieve these goals, RME has scheduled time for the staff and principal to meet and collaborate on research-based instructional practices to better meet student learning needs. The staff meets monthly to discuss student progress and interventions, while grade level teams meet weekly to discuss student needs. Additionally, math and reading instructional coaches collaborate with teachers to enhance instructional practices and materials.
Achieving Academic Success
RME is proud to hold high expectations for all students, teachers, parents, and administrators. To that end, achieving academic success for students includes a variety of instructional strategies, tools, and programs.
- Advanced math classes in grades 3, 4, and 5.
- Title I reading and math support to meet the needs of a diverse student population.
- ESL and bilingual instruction for English Language Learners.
- Teachers focusing on individual student needs, current research/practices, and instructional data to guide student learning.
- On-going, site-based, purposeful teacher learning.
- Gifted and talented focus in all core areas to meet the needs of high performing students.
