2008 Bond Projects
Thanks to the community, the passage of the 2008 Bond will provide funds for building repairs and infrastructure upgrades.
History
Established in 1957 and named for its majestic view of the Rocky Mountains, Mountain View has a long and proud tradition for outstanding education. An environment rich in respect, diversity, and culture exists at Mountain View.
School Focus
Mountain View maintains a commitment to excellence by providing a safe, caring and nurturing environment for students. Our goal is for virtually all of our students to reach, maintain, or exceed grade level proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics. Striving for a working partnership between the parents, community, and staff is another essential focus for our school.
To meet these goals, a Professional Learning Community exists. Teachers collaborate regularly both on grade level teams and in vertical articulation teams. The specific focus of their collaboration is:
- Aligning standards and curriculum;
- Examining lessons and resulting student work;
- Changing and guiding their instruction around specific areas of need in reading, writing, and math.
Achieving Academic Success
An extremely talented and dedicated staff, wonderful volunteers and mentors, and an active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) combine to provide academic success for all students. Through a community effort, Mountain View offers the following support:
- Full day kindergarten
- Positive behavior support
- Homework Club offered twice a week after school.
- One-to-one mentoring for at-risk students.
- Small group instruction
- One-to-one or small group tutoring or enrichment provided by both teachers and volunteers.
- Differentiation/extra challenge for students with high abilities
What Makes Mountain View Unique
Mountain View is the district center school for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
A small, but very active, Parent Teacher Organization sponsors many events to build community as well as raise monies for the school.
Before/After School Activities
Mountain View offers a variety of after school opportunities for students including, but not limited to, Sign Squad (hearing students who are interested in learning sign language), Student Council, Fun Club for at-risk students, and Homework Club. Check with the school for the most current offerings.
