Mead High School maintains a separate school web site [http://mhs.stvrain.k12.co.us]. The school's web site makes it easier to communicate news and information to parents. Please visit the web site for more detailed information and events concerning Mead High School.
In addition to the separate school web site, an overview of Mead High School is provided [below]. A similar summary is provided for each school within the District to make it easier to find the same information for each of the District's schools.
History
Opening in August of 2009 as the school district’s newest high school, Mead High School represents a resuscitation of the original Mead High School, established in 1917 through a consolidation of two schools in the area, Highlandlake and Mead. The new school continued successfully until it was closed in 1961. Its re-establishment on 64 acres south of the town of Mead as a state-of-the-art, 21st century school proudly signals a continuation of the long and rich tradition of academic excellence in the Mead area.
School Focus
Eventually providing a comprehensive education for all its students in all four of its classes, Mead High School pledges superior achievement for each and every student, with a clear emphasis on rigor, relevance, and relationships. As a high-performing school, Mead will strive to make every student successful through a high-powered curriculum, instruction, and assessment based upon a strong sense of purpose and differentiation, through personalization and engagement based upon a culture of high expectations and caring, and through the active involvement of parents and community.
Achieving Academic Success
Offering a wide range of regular, honors, and Advanced Placement courses in both the core and the elective areas, Mead will concentrate especially on the areas of mathematics and reading, with enhanced, differentiated courses for each student. Varied instructional strategies will be developed by the planning team to carefully and successfully meet the needs of all students.
