2008 Bond Projects
Thanks to the community, the passage of the 2008 Bond will provide funds for building repairs and infrastructure upgrades.
History
Adjacent to Clark Centennial Park, Loma Linda was built in 1972. Its name in Spanish means “beautiful hill” and was appropriately selected because of the beautiful view of the mountains and parks from the school grounds.
School Focus
Loma Linda implemented a Math-Science Instructional Focus in 2005. This systemic intiative provides all students with expanded learning opportunities in Math and Science. Loma Linda prides itself on providing high quality educational experiences for all students and for celebrating their diversity that mirrors society at large. The staff is committed to providing a safe, caring, and nurturing environment that will foster increased student success. Specifically, the school’s goals are to:
- Increase student achievement;
- Develop a partnership with parents and the community at large to support the development of the whole child;
- Provide a learning environment that supports high quality learning opportunities for all students.
To meet these goals, the staff is focusing their professional development on instructional strategies and refining diagnostic skills in reading, writing, and math to support students who are not yet demonstrating proficiency. Additionally, we are committed to providing quality, rigorous enrichment for students who are already proficient.
Achieving Academic Success
The staff of Loma Linda creates learning experiences to help each child be successful. To that end, achieving academic success for students includes:
- Small group instruction;
- Individualized learning opportunities;
- Professional development for staff to positively impact student growth;
- Differentiated instruction to address the academic needs of students;
- After school programming through the Community School;
- MESA (Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement) for all students;
- Various community resources to support the Math/Science Focus Program.
