2008 Bond Projects
Thanks to the community, the passage of the 2008 Bond will provide funds for building repairs and infrastructure upgrades.
History
Longmont High School is the city of Longmont’s original high school, opening its doors to students in 1901. Steeped in tradition and pride, Longmont High School has a long rich tradition as a vital, positive contributor in the community.
School Focus
Longmont High School focuses on academic achievement and encourages student participation in co-curricular and extracurricular activities. LHS supports students to reach their full potential through commitment to academic achivement and encourages all students to enroll in the honors and advanced placement classes offered. LHS is a comprehensive high school that offers a multitude of offerings in the core area subjects as well as a wide range of elective programs to meet the interests of the school community.
Achieving Academic Success
Achieving academic success for all students at Longmont High is a collaborative effort among stakeholders involved in the education of each individual student.
- Individual departments develop and integrate specific strategies in reading, writing, and math to meet student needs.
- Decisions about instruction are data driven, and school goals have been formulated using CSAP, PLAN, and ACT assessment scores, as well as individual department assessments that center on reading, writing, and mathematics.
- Eight Advanced Placement courses are offered as part of the CU Succeed Gold Program that provides students with the opportunity to take those classes for both high school and college credit.
- Honors classes are offered in English, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
- Variety of course offerings provide choices for students at all levels and abilities.
What Makes Longmont Unique
LHS offers seventeen Advanced Placement courses (eight of these courses are also part of the CU Succeed Gold Program) and fifteen Honors courses.
More than 800 students (60% of the student body) enrolled in one or more Honors and/or Advanced Placement classes, with students taking 328 Advanced Placement exams in May 2007.
A curriculum designed to provide students with a diverse, challenging program that meets each of their various needs, abilities, and interests.
A strong music program that includes marching band, concert band, jazz band, choir and orchestra.
LHS offers four World Language programs: Spanish, French, Japanese, and German.
A vast selection of elective programs including Art, Business, Drama, Family and Consumer Sciences, Technology, Physical Education, Police Academy, Yearbook and Newspaper.
Student Leadership is offered as a class providing the opportunity for students to learn hands-on skills in organization, time management, event planning, and other leadership skills.
LHS provides and pays for the administration of the ACT preparation tests of EXPLORE at the 9th grade level and the PLAN test at the 10th grade level for all students.
Nineteen athletic programs are offered for students allowing and encouraging students to challenge themselves, grow in their skills, and learn self-discipline and commitment to a team.

A large portion of students attending Longmont High School previously attended either Longs Peak Middle School or Westview Middle School.
