2008 Bond Projects
Thanks to the community, the passage of the 2008 Bond will provide funds for building repairs and infrastructure upgrades.
History
First established as a school in portables in 1968, the actual building was built in 1974 and Longmont Estates began the rich tradition of educational excellence that continues today. Walking into the main entrance of the school, visitors are greeted by Lee and Leanna, a bronze sculpture created in 2003 by the parents, teachers, and children of Longmont Estates through the “Artist in Residence” program and King Sculpture Studios.
School Focus
Longmont Estates is a sanctuary for students; a place where their hopes, ambitions, character, and integrity are nurtured. The staff is dedicated to improving student performance in the areas of reading, writing, and mathematics. Specific school goals are to decrease the percentage of students scoring at the Unsatsifactory and Partially Proficient levels while increasing the percentage of students scoring at the Advanced level as determined by the CSAP Reading, Writing, and Mathematics assessments.
The staff is a successful mixture of talent and experience. Trained in the Six-Traits Writing Process, strategies are implemented on a daily basis across all curriculum areas. Ongoing assessment is a powerful strategy that is used on a continuous basis, and the professional development opportunities that the staff participates in serve to improve the educational experiences for all students.
Achieving Academic Success
The staff of Longmont Estates makes exceptional efforts toward creating learning experiences to help each child be successful. To that end, achieving academic success for students at Longmont Estates includes:
- Flexible groupings in both reading and math based on pre- and post-testing, along with ongoing achievement performance.
- Mastering Math Facts, an innovative supplemental math program.
- Scholastic Reading Inventory, a computerized reading program that tracks individual student achievement.
- Reading Counts that allows students to choose books from the library to read. Upon completion, a computerized quiz is taken and, if passed, points are earned that can be exchanged for goods from the School Store.
- Strong literacy support from a trained literacy specialist with a leveled book literacy room.
- Parent volunteers who facilitate lunchtime reading and writing groups.
