2008 Bond Projects

Thanks to the community, the passage of the 2008 Bond will provide funds for building repairs and infrastructure upgrades.

History

Heritage opened in 1974 as Northeast Junior High and changed to Heritage Middle School in 1991. The school is currently the District’s only candidate for the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme and offers an academically rigorous course of study for advanced and/or highly motivated students.

Achieving Academic Success

Our top priority is high level academic achievement for all students. Program tools include:

  • A school day schedule designed for academic rigor and time on task.
  • Full elective program including advanced technology, world languages, visual and performing arts.
  • A double block of literacy and math instruction for non-IB students.
  • ELL teams that provide English Language Learners additional instruction and learning support.
  • Literacy Labs
  • JumpStart Program beginning in early August for students in need of concentrated help in math, reading, and/or writing.

What Makes Heritage Unique

Heritage is home to the District’s candidate IB Middle Years Programme.

Heritage offers a rigorous academic experience in a diverse and welcoming atmosphere where students are held to high standards of achievement and personal comportment.

Heritage has a unique partnership with IBM that sponsors a team of female students to attend IBM Excite Camp, a project-based technology camp exploring hands-on computer and engineering projects.

Before/After School Activities

MESA provides students with an opportunity to expand their knowledge about math, science and/or engineering.

Student Council teaches leadership and civic involvement.

Club Activities that include National Junior Honor Society, Odyssey of the Mind, Art, Geography, Jazz Band, Foreign Language and Competitive Soccer.

Competitive opportunities are available for students who choose to become involved in the After School Intramural Sports Program that include volleyball, basketball, wrestling, and track.

Performing Arts honors Opportunities include Encore (Choir), CU Honor Band, Mission Possible String Ensemble, HMS Honor Band.

Feeder Pattern

Students leaving Heritage Middle School will attend Skyline High School. A large portion of Heritage Middle School students previously attended either Alpine Elementary School, Loma Linda Elementary School, or Spangler Elementary School.
