2008 Bond Projects

Thanks to the community, the passage of the 2008 Bond will provide funds for building repairs and infrastructure upgrades.

History

Opened in 1999, Eagle Crest is located in the southwest part of Longmont. Named for the eagles that used to nest in the area, the school’s colors and mascot were chosen by the 5th graders attending school there in 1999. Original student artwork was designed and submitted for the golden eagle mascot.

School Focus

The school’s goals focus on improving reading, writing, math and science with an emphasis on math and writing. Teams are working in professional learning communities to identify essential learning’s in both subject areas. Each staff member assesses their students on each essential learning to ensure mastery and prepare them for the next grade level.

School improvement programs are data driven with committees looking at assessment data to determine the needs of the school and then developing programs to meet those needs. Additionally, to ensure both vertical and horizonal articulation in the building, grade level and cross-grade level teams collaborate for student success.

Achieving Academic Success

In an effort to achieve academic success for all students, Eagle Crest offers a wide variety of opportunities that include:

  • Teachers trained in the area of differentiation to address the academic needs of every student.
  • Literacy support in the form of small group reading instruction to meet the needs of those students who are reading below grade level.
  • Ability grouping in 4th grade math classes and the use of the Investigations in Math Program in all grade levels.
  • A focus on character trait education with counselor presentations monthly in classrooms.
  • Book Buddies, a weekly buddy mentor reading program where students in the 3rd and 4th grade are paired with kindergarteners, 1st, and 2nd graders.
  • Looping that involves teachers keeping the same students for two years in grades 1 and 2 and grades 3 and 4.

What Makes Eagle Crest Unique
