Recent estimates of the Colorado state budget deficit reach as much as $1.5 billion. To address the deficit, the state legislature is expected to reduce funding for K-12 education by as much as 10%. In terms of dollars, the St. Vrain Valley School District is expected to face state funding cuts between $11 and $15 million.
The Board of Education is asking students, parents, employees, area business owners, and other stakeholders for suggestions and strategies to deal with a major reduction in funding. The Board appreciates your thoughts and suggestions.
Thank you very much for your valuable input. We look forward to your continued support of our efforts to effectively respond to the state budget reductions.
