Planning
The Planning Department’s responsibility covers a wide range of activity related to the facility planning function of the District. As a resource for the community, the Planning Department:
- Answers questions regarding attendance areas and open enrollment policies from parents, real estate agents, and others
- Serves as a contact point and provides information to local government agencies and planners on matters of growth, land use and related topics
- Answers questions from developers prior to the development review process on the impacts of development
New boundaries for upcoming 2013-2014 School Year
The upcoming 2013-2014 school year signals a change of boundaries for some Elementary School and Middle School boundaries. These changes are being brought about by the opening of Thunder Valley K8 and Timberline K8. The changes are outlined, below. The boundary map will be updated with these maps after the close of the 2012-2013 school year

October Report for the 2012-2013 School Year
The Planning Department’s responsibility covers a wide range of activity related to the facility planning function of the District. As a resource for the community, the Planning Department
Annually, the Planning Department provides the Board of Education with a report on the official October Count for the St. Vrain Valley School District.
The 2012/2013 October Report details the changes in enrollment at a school by grade level, as well as provides information on birth numbers, free/reduced lunch counts, ethnic breakdowns, English language learners, private school and home school enrollment, the impacts of choice, enrollment projections, capacity, building permit activity by community and a variety of other indicators.
With the count confirmed for 2012-13, The St. Vrain Valley School District experienced significant growth in enrollment again across the District. Enrollment now stands at 28,441 up from 27,193 in 2011. This is a growth rate of approximately 4.6% and a gain of 1248 students from the 2011 October Count. The greatest gains were in the Alternative Schools with the inclusion of the new APEX home school program (+286), Frederick Feeder with new student growth brought in by the new Frederick High School (+238), Erie Feeder schools (+227 students), Charter Schools (+225 students), and Mead Feeder schools (+136). Moderate gains also occurred in the Silver Creek, Longmont, and Skyline feeders. No feeder areas declined in enrollment.
