Department Overview

The goal of the Energy Education and Management Department is to identify and reduce unnecessary energy consumption and costs through facility audits, while increasing awareness, education, and training. The Department is also responsible for ensuring that District purchases of utility commodities are efficient. This task is accomplished through a comprehensive program that includes developing working relationships and partnerships with utility companies, auditing utility bills for accuracy, and the purchase of energy commodities on the open market.

Oversight

  • Analyze existing technologies and make recommendations for facility improvements.
  • Research utility grants and rebate programs to offset costs for retrofitting existing equipment and new construction.
  • Plan, organize, and administer the District trash and recycle programs.
  • Work with the City of Longmont to provide an educational opportunity for our fifth grade students to learn about water conservation, water safety awareness, and water ecosystems.
  • Promote sustainability, energy conservation, and recycling throughout the entire district.
