Committee Overview

Leadership St. Vrain (LSV) was launched in the 2009-2010 school year after a group of highly engaged parents ran a successful campaign for a mill levy override and school improvement bond.

Since that time, two cohorts of parents have participated in a formal training program designed to deepen their knowledge of district operations and exchange ideas with staff, board members and state education officials.

The program is especially appropriate for parents who want to obtain a foundation in district operations and governance and become more effective participants in school district affairs. As LSV Chair for 2011-2012, we hope to involve committed representatives from a greater and more diverse number of our school communities.

Depending on the size of the applicant pool, all applicants may not be accepted into this year’s program. However, every effort will be made to ensure that every parent is provided an opportunity to become engaged in their school or district in some way. If necessary, applicants who cannot be accepted this year will be wait-listed for 2012-2013.

It’s a serious commitment of time, but we believe it’s an invaluable learning opportunity.
