The O Ambassadors underway at Niwot High
Students at Niwot High School are participating in the O Ambassadors program, a joint project of Oprah's Angel Network and Free The Children. These students are working towards the UN Millennium Development Goals, learning about global issues and making a tangible difference in the lives of their peers in the developing world. More >

Congratulations to the students and staff of Lyons and Niwot High School now listed on Newsweek’s top 1300 U.S. high schools. More >
Firestone/St. Vrain agree on pact: Developers will support schools (Farmer and Miner)
Nearly three years after an intergovernmental pact between the Town of Firestone and St. Vrain Valley School district expired, Firestone’s town board voted Thursday night to help the district mitigate some of the expenses incurred by student growth. Under the agreement, residential developers have to either donate land for school sites or pay a set fee for each residential unit that is built within town limits. More >

Indian Peaks honored
In October, Indian Peaks Elementary received an award for their 3 year participation in the USTARS, a Javits grant funded project designed to help identify underrepresented gifted populations. More >
Northridge Wall of Heroes becomes reality
Stone slabs for the Longmont Heroes Monument were recently installed at Northridge Elementary School. The first meeting for the project began on September 10, 2001. More >
Students shine at state STEM event
STEMapalooza, a recent two-day conference dedicated to science, technology, engineering and math education hosted scientists, educators, parents, policy makers, industry leaders, and the media to discuss STEM curriculum and innovative collaborations throughout the state. More >
New legislation expands services to gifted and talented students
Two new laws address Colorado’s gifted and talented students. The first requires all schools to identify giftedness in the areas of general intellectual ability, specific academic aptitude, creativity, leadership, visual/performing arts, and music. More >
Another St. Vrain teacher wins state award
St. Vrain adult education teacher Kat Bennett was awarded the 2008 Virginia French Allen Award for Excellence in Teaching at the state conference of Colorado Teachers of English to Speakers of other Languages (CoTESOL). More >
